Mock Medical School Interviews Night - This Friday, March 16th at 7:00 PM

Dear Premed Members,

Ryerson's Premedical Society is holding its very first Mock Interview Night - a new initiative for those interested in attending medical schools in Canada!

A panel member from McMaster's medical school will be conducting "interviews" with you (the medical student candidate) according to the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format. MMI is a newly adapted format that is widely used across Canadian medical schools (McMaster, Calgary, Queens, etc). You can expect to be asked questions using ethical scenarios that have been used in real medical school interviews in the past, as well as be given feedback on your performance!

Interviews are an integral part of the pre-med journey as they can make or break your dream of becoming a doctor. The high GPA, good MCAT scores, and shining personal statement would all go into vain if the interview did not reflect your true potential, spirit, and motivation of wanting to become a doctor. According to recent stats from McMaster's class of 2014, 547 candidates were granted an interview but only 204 students were granted admission to their medical school. Similarly last year, University of Toronto interviewed 528 students for 259 spots. Statistics CLEARLY depict the weight that a medical school interview holds.

Come out and learn more about what Canadian medical schools seek in their candidates on a personal level and what kind of candidates make it into medical school!
