Announcement: Elections Premed Executive Election

Dear Premed Members,

The time has come for our executive election! Are you interested in being on the Premed executive team for the 2012-2013 academic year? If so, please read this!

If you are registered with our mailing list, you will have already received an email regarding the election. There, you will find information about the available positions for next year as well as the nomination sheet.

Please inform us if you have not received this email but are interested at premed@ryerson.ca.

Please note, it is VERY important that you submit your nomination sheet to us on time and that all nominations have valid information on it or else, it won't count.

In addition to your nomination sheet, please also send us a quick blurb to premed@ryerson.ca about why you are suitable for the position that you are applying for.

The DEADLINE to submit these nomination sheets and your blurb is Friday, March 23, 2012. Nominations can be completed, scanned, and emailed to premed@ryerson.ca or handed in to any of our current executive members (preferred).

In order to be considered a candidate, you must meet the following requirements:

A) You must be a Ryerson student enrolled in a full-time or part-time degree program
B) You must be a member (i.e. non-exec or exec) of the Premedical Society at the time of nomination
C) You agree to give Premed your full contact information as Premed must report this information to the RSU if you are elected

Please Note: The Co-President positions are open to CURRENT EXECUTIVES ONLY.

Details on how the election will work are as follows:

1. Members wishing to be nominated must fill out the form in order to nominate themselves. However, you will also be required to collect 3 other nominations from current Premed members (exec or non-exec is ok). You will have until Friday, March 23, 2012 to submit this form and your blurb to a current executive or to scan and email a copy to premed@ryerson.ca. Here's a tip: we STRONGLY recommend that you come out to either of our two upcoming events (details will be emailed out shortly) being held before this deadline date and hand in the form to any of the executives present. Plus, it is a good way to collect nominees if you do not have them already. If you would like to make a pitch at either of the events, please let us know. It is your responsibility to ensure that we receive these forms on time so please make sure that you hand the form in to a CURRENT EXECUTIVE. If you are already a current executive wishing to run again, you must still complete this process if you wish to be potentially re-elected.

2. If by the deadline, there is only one candidate for a position, he/she will be the default winner. Otherwise, voting will take place. Blurbs will be compiled and sent out to all members for reviewing.

3. Voting will then commence for all positions that have no defaulted winner. All votes must be in no later than Friday, March 30, 2012 @ 3:00 PM. In order to vote, you must be a Ryerson student enrolled in a full-time or part-time degree program. Please send all votes electronically to premed@ryerson.ca and include in the subject line, "Vote".

4. We will complete counting ballots and officially announce the new executive team for 2012-2013 via email shortly thereafter.

Any questions or concerns relating to the elections process should be directed to Lily Eng (the Premed Secretary) at premed@ryerson.ca as she is acting as the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) overlooking this elections process. Please include in the subject line, "Election".
